To our Sponsors,
With only two races left in the McDonald’s Kentuckiana Spring Classic Series presented by Apex Therapy, BikeClicks/Team Louisville and the local cycling community of competitive teams are gearing up for a big racing weekend on May 16th & 17th. The Spring Series ends with back to back crits; the McDonald’s Capital City Criterium on Saturday, May 16th and the season closer, held at Norton Commons and hosted by BikeClicks/Team Louisville on Sunday the 17th.
I’ve been remiss at keeping you up to date on the goings on with our races and for that, my apologies! We have indeed been quite busy racing – since we last spoke, BikeClicks/Team Louisville has raced in four spring series races – many of our racers place in the top ten, but in the interest of saving some space, to follow are results for the top three spots in each race since our last newsletter:

Many of us also traveled north to Warsaw, Indiana over Derby weekend to race in the Fat & Skinny Tire Fest at Winona Lake. This was a great weekend-long festival that featured both a mountain bike race as well as a road race on Saturday and a criterium on Sunday. The criterium event was huge and very well attended with spectators 3 deep in places! A local Louisville favorite, Rachel Fagerberg was the announcer at Sunday’s race – and the number of teammates that travelled the distance & raced garnered a lot of attention and “air” time at the race! Upon returning, I’d say we got at least ten new members on the site.
BikeClicks/Team Louisville racers competed in both the mountain biking and road racing in Winona with some great results. These results, however, have yet to be posted. All results and general spring series news can be seen on the series website, here.
Once again, Heine Bros. coffee was gracious enough to supply some coffee for all the folks out at Shawnee on April 19th – it poured rain for almost every single race; needless to say, the coffee was a welcome sight to the racers, spectators, and officials. There will be more coffee at the final race at Norton Commons – we invite you all to come out and enjoy the races. Please stop by the Airstream for a cup of coffee, too!
Speaking of Norton Commons, it really is a superb venue for a race. If you have never been to a bike race, this is the one to check out. No worries about not understanding bike racing – the course is very spectator friendly, its’ a great, casual festival-like atmosphere that should provide for an exciting day. I personally, have never been to a bike race in Europe, but I’ve seen them on TV, and watching a race at Norton Commons has a little euro-bike-race flavor to it that makes it so fun. Please come out & celebrate the end of a great season – watch your team in action!
The spring series of races is a points-based series with a certain number of points being given to each racer depending on their finishing place at each event. There are a few BikeClicks/Team Louisville riders in contention for a spot on the final podium – anything can change at the last race, which makes it all the more exciting – we hope to see you there.
And, in news worth repeating:
The BikeClicks/Team Louisville bus has become a central point of activity at each race we participate in. It has become synonymous with our team and offers a perfect opportunity for us to promote and support our sponsors – if you have products or services that you would like us to present or represent, let us know! Additionally, our sponsors are always welcome and encouraged to be an “expert” on a topic they feel may be of interest to the cycling community by writing an article that we’ll feature in an upcoming article section on BikeClicks.com. The Positive Effects of Caffeine for Athlete’s Recovery, or How to Recover From or Prevent Injury, How to Save Money for and Finance this Expensive Sport, etc … if you have an idea, let me know!
Our new team website is still in some final stages of tweaking - and we invite you to have a look. This will serve as our communication to you, our sponsors and the community as a whole. We want to ensure that you are properly represented and ask that if you have any additional information for your individual sponsor pages, that you email me with anything you’d like added!
As always, thanks for your continued support and sponsorship. Happy Spring & Happy Riding!
